Record the lecture while you follow along. StudentHub turns it into text you can search, and nothing is sent away.

Record a lecture

1

Pick the recording language

Choose the language the lecture is held in at the top right, so the text comes out right. This is separate from the app language. You can use the app in English and attend Norwegian lectures.
2

Start recording

Tap Start recording. You can pause and resume, and stop when you are done.
3

Save it

Tap Stop and save. The recording shows up under Recordings, ready to transcribe.
Add the Start recording control to Control Center, or use the widget, to start faster. See Home screen and widgets.

Turn it into text

Tap Turn into text on a recording. It happens on your device, and you do not need a connection once the language is ready.
  • The first time you use a language, a language model downloads. It is a one time download per language.
  • Transcribing uses one study action. You get 3 free every month. See Study actions.
  • Search inside the text with Search the transcription.
  • If you transcribe again, the new text replaces the old one, and costs one more study action.

Permissions

StudentHub needs the microphone to record and speech recognition to turn recordings into text. The audio stays on your device. If you said no earlier, allow them in your device settings. To transcribe some languages you also need to turn on Dictation. On iPhone and iPad: Settings, General, Keyboard. On Mac: System Settings, Keyboard.

If something goes wrong

Recordings are saved in five-minute parts. If a recording stops without being saved, for example after a phone call, the parts are left behind. See Lost recordings.
